Student Grocery Hauls, Tips, and Tricks

Stock your kitchen with effortless Walmart snacks, quick breakfast kits, and easy grab-and-go items that save you time and money

  • Blevita snack packs
  • Thats It mini fruit bars
  • Philadelphia bagel chips and cream cheese dip (I like the garden vegetable flavor)
  • Brookside dark chocolates (I like the pomegranate flavor)
  • Special K pastry crisps
  • Welch’s Fruit ‘N Yogurt Soft Fruit Snacks

  • Goodles Mac and Cheese cups (good for some protein)
  • Marketside Breakfast Bowls
  • Any Marie Callender’s meals ( I have found that these warm up well compared to other microwave meals)
  • Frozen veggies warm up great in the microwave, and you can pop them into almost any meal

  • Kevin’s Natural Foods (I like the roasted garlic chicken, prep with some rice and veggies, and it’s easily 2 meals)

  • Zatarains or Ben’s original rice boxes (Takes 20 minutes, my favorite is the cilantro lime rice, but they have other great options, and you can pair it with any vegetable and protein)
  • Get a bag of frozen raw chicken. I like chicken breast tenderloins, but get whatever you like. They are easy to grab a few tenders to cook up for a quick meal.
  • Frozen veggies make meals so easy, and you can microwave them in a few minutes or cook them however you like.
  • Having canned veggies never hurts either, throw them in with rice or pasta, cook some chicken, and you have an easy 20 minute meal.

  • If you are shopping online, you can filter your items from cheapest to most expensive so that you can shop more cheaply.
  • Keep a mental note or a list of what you are buying and the prices, if you want to be within a budget.
  • I think everyone knows this already, but absolutely do not go shopping when you are hungry; eat something before you go, or you will somehow end up buying more than you need.
  • Shop only what is on your list, don’t wander the aisles, or you might end up with some extra things in your cart that weren’t on your list (this has happened to me plenty of times)
